RHIZOMAL

Wall drawing, installation, 1999

The Rhizome wall drawing was inspired by information systems. The drawing is a network of connections emanating from a central node. It has subdividing roots folding and stretching to create patterns that have a quality of unspecific accidental and non-linear flight paths. The drawing was first created on paper, and realized in Illustrator at the University of Köln. I projected the drawing printed from the computer on the wall at the Museum Ludwig, Köln as a guide for painting/drawing the lines. As Sol LeWitt stated: “All decisions are made beforehand, so execution becomes a perfunctory affair.”
